How much is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT Plus is $20 a month. Free still exists. Pro has been listed at $100 and $200 a month, and OpenAI paused new sign-ups to the $200 Pro plan on 10 September 2026.

Read the live table on chatgpt.com/pricing before you pay. The help page What is ChatGPT Plus? is the $20 figure. Go sits between Free and Plus; its dollar amount is on that pricing page, and it moves, so it is not repeated here.

What each plan is for

  • Free: the assistant, with tighter caps on messages, images, and tools
  • Go: a paid step under Plus. Confirm the price at checkout
  • Plus: $20 a month, higher limits, the plan most “how much is ChatGPT” queries mean
  • Pro $100: still sold, on OpenAI’s note about the pause
  • Pro $200 (called Pro 20X in the help note): new sign-ups and upgrades paused from 10 September 2026. Existing $200 subscriptions keep running until you cancel
  • Business and Enterprise: per user, for a workspace. Enterprise is a sales conversation

What the subscription does not buy

API tokens are not included. A Plus receipt does not fill platform billing. Sora’s consumer app ended on 26 April 2026, so Plus is not a video bundle. Codex inside ChatGPT draws on the plan’s Codex allowance, which you can see on the usage dashboard.

Students and promo invites are separate from the sticker price. See ChatGPT for students and the Plus free trial. To stop the renewal, use cancel ChatGPT.

Questions

Is ChatGPT Plus still $20?

Yes, on the Plus help page: $20 a month, billed monthly. OpenAI says Plus does not offer annual prepay.

Can I still buy the $200 Pro plan?

Not as a new sign-up while the 10 September 2026 pause lasts. Existing Pro $200 subscriptions continue. Pro $100 was not part of that pause.

Does Plus include the API?

No. The API is metered on platform.openai.com.
