IndexOpenAI Prism
OpenAI Prism
Prism is a free workspace for scientific writing. It started as Crixet, the cloud LaTeX editor OpenAI acquired, and now keeps equations, citations, and the model in one file.
Updated 2026-09-27
Open Prism at prism.openai.com. You sign in with ChatGPT. The announcement is Introducing Prism. People who still search the old name want Crixet.
What you can do in the file
- Draft and revise a paper without pasting the whole draft into a separate chat
- Work with equations and citations in the same document
- Search literature and pull sources into the draft
- Collaborate in real time, the part Crixet already did
At launch OpenAI said the model in the document was GPT-5.2, and that any ChatGPT account could open unlimited projects and collaborators. Later model names move on their own schedule. The live app is the list that matters.
Prism is not ChatGPT, and not the API
ChatGPT at chatgpt.com is the general assistant. Prism is the science editor. Codex is the coding agent. The API on platform.openai.com bills usage separately and does not include Prism projects. A ChatGPT Plus subscription is not an API credit balance, and an API key does not open Prism.
