How to cancel a ChatGPT subscription
Cancel on the store that charged you. On chatgpt.com that is Settings, then Billing, then Cancel plan. Do it at least 24 hours before the renewal date.

If you paid on chatgpt.com
- Sign in to ChatGPT on the account that receives the receipt
- Open the account menu and select Settings
- Select Billing
- Under Cancel plan, select Cancel, then confirm
If Apple or Google charged you
An App Store subscription is canceled in Apple subscriptions. A Google Play subscription is canceled in Google Play. The Billing screen inside ChatGPT will not stop those renewals. A self-serve Business plan is canceled in workspace billing, not on a personal Plus screen.
What cancel does
It stops the next charge. It does not refund the current period by itself. For a chatgpt.com or Google Play purchase, ask for a refund through support while signed in. Apple refunds go through Apple. If you are on Pro $200 during the sign-up pause, canceling means you cannot buy that tier again until OpenAI lifts the pause. You can undo a scheduled cancel in billing settings before the cycle ends.

Settings → Billing → Cancel plan, if the charge came from chatgpt.com. Use Apple or Google if the charge came from them.
I canceled and still got billed.
The help article says to cancel at least 24 hours before the next billing date. A later cancel applies to the following period.
Does cancel delete my chats?
No. Cancel ends the paid plan. Deleting the account is a separate control in settings.
